Fife Private Rental Solutions (FPRS) has been recognised in the latest edition of Key Matters — the official publication of SafeDeposit Scotland — for its contribution to the Rent Deposit Fund initiative.
SafeDeposit Scotland launched the Rent Deposit Fund in late 2022 to provide non-returnable deposits for people who face financial barriers when accessing private rented accommodation. The programme promotes fairness, stability and ethical letting across Scotland.
In early 2024, the fund expanded beyond Edinburgh through a partnership with Rock Trust and Fife Private Rental Solutions. This extension allows more people across Fife to access support when entering the private rental market.
FPRS works closely with Rock Trust to identify eligible candidates. The team carries out affordability and housing assessments and provides ongoing advice and guidance. This collaborative approach ensures that both landlords and tenants benefit from well-managed, sustainable tenancies.
So far, FPRS has helped to create 27 new tenancies through the Rent Deposit Fund. More than £20,000 in deposits have been provided by SafeDeposit Scotland. As a result, tenants have secured safe homes, and landlords have greater confidence in offering long-term agreements.
